He consolidated and integrated five acquired companies, improved operations and effectively managed multiple departments at Avalon Publishing Group.
He has exhibited photography in Europe, Australia, Japan, Mexico and throughout the U.S. Fitzgerald is a nationally known documentary photographer; his photographic work has appeared in over 100 periodicals, including Rolling Stone, Spin, GQ, Publishers Weekly, US, the Village Voice, the Washington Post, Triathlete, San Francisco Examiner, Oakland Tribune, Penthouse, Travel Holiday, Musician, Atlanta Constitution Journal, and Conde Naste Sports for Women, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
His book collaboration with horror writer Stephen King, Nightmares in the Sky, sold over 180,000 copies and was a national bestseller. As Production Manager, for Pace Gallery Publications, from 1986 to 1988, he managed the editorial, design, production and manufacturing of deluxe catalogs and books. Featured artists included Picasso, Miro, Nevelson, Twombly, Penn, Steinberg, Cornell, and Samaras.
